At the start of any journey, it’s important to begin on the right foot, have a sense of where you are going, and make sure all of the equipment is ready for the long haul. Everyone possesses strengths and weaknesses when it comes to learning. Some excel at test-taking. Others need more time to comprehend when reading.

When learning online, it’s important to know ourselves, especially our strengths and weaknesses, so we can adjust appropriately to the new environment and reach our full potential. This orientation course hopes to help you feel comfortable in an online environment.

The following is a short orientation to familiarize yourself with Online Learning. This course is divided into easy-to-follow modules that will be accompanied by short quizzes at the end of each to test your readiness for Online Learning. There are NO pass or fail grades associated with this free course, we just want to make sure that you are prepared for what lies ahead in Online Learning.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this training, you will be able to complete the following tasks:

  • Navigate an Open LMS site.
  • Describe the basics of Open LMS.
  • Identify ways that you as a student may personalize your Open LMS experience.
  • Recognize the features in an Open LMS course that are key to a successful learning experience.
  • Participate in the most common activities and resources in a course.
  • Identify how to monitor academic progress through an Open LMS course.
