Adult Basic Education II

Adult Basic Education II (ABE II) is a program of instruction designed to address the educational needs of adults seeking improvement in reading, writing, speaking, problem solving, and computation skills. The ABE II program provides educational opportunities that will enable adults to function more effectively in society, on the job, or in the family setting.

Students who place in the ABE II program are those students who, based on their incoming placement scores, are expected to transition into the upper-level classes and ultimately earn a high school credential.

The classes are managed enrollment with an attendance policy. There is no cost for registration. Materials are provided by the College and Career Readiness program and are prepared to meet the needs and interests of adults with a special emphasis on employability and transitioning to curriculum programs.

Classes are offered on both the Tarboro and Rocky Mount campuses.

Off campus classes are located at various sites throughout the Edgecombe County area. Primary off-site locations include:

  • Evelyn Powell Center (Battleboro)
  • Now Is The Time (Pinetops)
  • Rocky Mount Opportunities Industrialization Center, 402 E. Virginia St., Rocky Mount, NC 27801
