Superior Essex Senior Manager Appointed to Board of Trustees

Carl J. Warren

Carl J. Warren of Pinetops has been appointed to the Edgecombe Community College Board of Trustees.

An Edgecombe County native and community leader has been selected to serve on the Edgecombe Community College Board of Trustees.

In August, the Edgecombe County Board of Commissioners appointed Carl J. Warren of Pinetops to serve as a trustee.

“I am honored by this opportunity to serve Edgecombe County and to have the chance to help Edgecombe Community College fulfill the education, training, and cultural needs in this area,” he says.

Warren is materials manager at Superior Essex in Tarboro. He has worked at Superior Essex for more than 32 years, and has served as plant manager of the Tarboro facility and plant controller in Elizabethtown, Kentucky.

“I’ve been in manufacturing for 36 years,” he explains, “so I have a genuine understanding of local training needs and employment requirements. We have a hard time filling electrical technician and mechanical technician positions, for example, not just at Superior Essex but in local industry in general.

“Edgecombe Community College has superior education and training programs in place, and I’m looking forward to helping position the college to become even more responsive to local workforce needs.”

Warren is a member of the Pinetops Presbyterian Church, where he is an elder and president of the board of trustees. He also is the Edgecombe County representative on the Rocky Mount-Wilson Airport Authority.

Previous public service includes co-chairman of the Edgecombe County United Way and vice president of the Pinetops Lions Club.

The ECC Board of Trustees has 12 members, each serving a four-year term. The Office of the Governor appoints four members. The Edgecombe County Board of Education and the Edgecombe County Board of Commissioners each appoint four members.
