Group of Basic Skills Grads

Participating High School Equivalency and Adult High School graduates celebrate with Jerry Harper (back row, far right), director of College and Career Readiness, as they conclude commencement exercises at Edgecombe Community College on May 7.

The Division of College and Career Readiness at Edgecombe Community College is now accepting students for the summer semester on the Tarboro and Rocky Mount campuses and all off-site locations.

The GED program is open to individuals 18 and older who wish to complete their high school credentials as well as 16- and 17-year-olds who have been officially released from public school. For these individuals, an under-age admission packet should be picked up and completed prior to orientation.

Classes are offered day and night to accommodate working students. Times vary at each location. Classes begin Wednesday, May 18, at most sites.

College and Career Readiness will open new locations at the old Bridger’s School Family Resource Center and at Pioneer Court Housing in Tarboro, and will reopen the Bassett Center site in Rocky Mount.

Other off-sites are located at the Door of Hope in Princeville; G.W. Bulluck Elementary School and the O.I.C., both in Rocky Mount; and Mrs. Evelyn Powell’s Resource Center in Battleboro.

Individuals interested in attending either site should call (252) 823-5166, ext. 229, Tarboro, or ext. 342, Rocky Mount.
