Financial Aid Advisor/VA Coordinator

Position: Financial Aid Advisor/VA Coordinator

Available: Immediately

Summary Description: Evaluate and process applications for financial assistance; ensure the expeditious handling of aid applications to include monitoring changes in eligibility; advise and educate students and parents regarding the financial aid process and eligibility requirements. Help ensure institutional compliance with DOE regulations by accurately interpreting and communicating regulations for students and various institutional personnel. Counsel veterans concerning enrollment requirements and benefit eligible academic programs; ensure that eligible veterans receive all VA benefits to which they are entitled; submit enrollment updates as required; and work with the student VA organization on an as-needed basis.

Minimum Qualifications: An Associate degree; work experience establishing and maintaining systems; demonstrated ability to interpret and apply federal, state, donor, and institutional rules for awarding financial aid; successful work experience requiring attention to detail; demonstrated ability to communicate effectively; and demonstrated commitment to serve the community with professionalism, courtesy, friendliness, consideration, and confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree; 1 year of work experience demonstrating ability to interpret and apply federal, state, donor, and institutional rules for awarding financial aid; demonstrated ability to communicate effectively; proficiency with Excel, Microsoft Word, and Datatel; and Career Readiness Credential.
