Day of Graduation

All graduates should arrive to Building A on the Tarboro campus by 8:30 a.m. on Friday, August 7.

Academic Costume

Graduates should not decorate their graduation cap.

Ladies should wear dresses or skirts and black shoes. Be sure to wear adequate shoes to walk from the auditorium in the McIntyre Building (Building A) to the auditorium in the Fleming Building (Building H).

Men should wear light-colored shirts, black shoes, and a tie.

Seating and Tickets

Guests must present a ticket to enter the auditorium. A ticket is required for each guest, including children. Newborn babies who can be held in arms do not require a ticket.

Because of limited seating, graduates have been given two tickets. Guests are not allowed to enter the auditorium without a ticket. After 9:30 a.m., non-ticketed guests will be seated on first-come first-served basis until there are no more available seats. If guests need to leave the auditorium before or during the ceremony they will not be allowed to re-enter without their ticket stub.

A photographer will be taking pictures of graduates. We ask that graduates stop and pose with Dr. McLeod so the photographer may take a picture. The photography company will contact graduates directly by mail or email. Please allow at least four weeks to be contacted by the photography company.

Guests may take photographs or videos from their seats but will not be allowed in the aisle. Additional photo opportunities will be available after the ceremony.

Graduate Names

Graduates who have names that are often mispronounced should see Dr. Starnes at the back of the auditorium during graduation rehearsal to give the correct pronunciation of their name. Graduates should line up against the wall over to the side while waiting to see him.

Outstanding Balances

Graduates will not receive a degree if they have overdue books from the library, outstanding balances in the Business Office, or transcripts that need to be turned in. Graduates should resolve any of these outstanding issues today. Inform Kienesha Ebron when these issues are resolved.

Prohibited Items

Helium balloons, beach balls, artificial noisemakers, or anything else that will distract or interrupt the ceremony are strictly prohibited.
