Job training in the tire manufacturing industry begins January 18 at Edgecombe Community College.
The Basics of Tire Manufacturing course will prepare students for entry-level jobs in tire manufacturing. Students will gain competencies in safety, quality, measurement systems, teamwork, and communication, as well as processes involved in making a tire.
The four-week class begins January 18 and ends February 9. Two classes will be available; both will be held on the Rocky Mount campus of Edgecombe Community College, Room 248.
A day class will be offered 9 a.m.-noon on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. An evening class will be offered 6-9 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
The class is being offered in conjunction with Bridgestone. Successful completion of this course is not a guarantee of an interview at Bridgestone, but the course is required in order to attain an interview.
The fee for the class is $140, which includes books and materials.
