Vidant Health CEO to Speak at Graduation

Dr. David Herman, president and CEO of Vidant Health, will give the keynote address during Commencement at Edgecombe Community College on Friday, May 9.

Commencement begins at 7 p.m. and will be held in Keihin Auditorium on the Tarboro campus. For the first time ever, live streaming coverage of graduation exercises will be available at www.ustream.tv/channel/edgecombecc.

ECC will award 443 associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates. A number of graduates will receive multiple credentials.

Also, the college will award 191 Adult High School diplomas and GEDs.

After a 20-plus-year tenure in practice, education, research, management, and governance at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, Dr. Herman joined Vidant Health in 2011 as president and chief operating officer.

He was named president and chief executive officer in 2012.

Dr. Herman is a native of International Falls, MN. He received his bachelor of science degree from the University of Illinois and his medical degree from Mayo Medical School.

He completed his residency in ophthalmology at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine and a fellowship at the National Eye Institute, National Institutes of Health. In 2000, he received a master’s degree in medical management from the University of Texas-Dallas.

Dr. Herman is a member of the NC Hospital Association Policy Development Committee and the East Carolina University Board of Visitors.
