All 2012 surgical technology graduates of Edgecombe Community College achieved a 100 percent pass rate on the national certification exam for surgical technologists.
This is a first for ECC’s surgical technology program. Program Coordinator Linda Harrison will receive a certificate naming the college as a School of Excellence.
For the second year, all surgical technology graduates of accredited programs are required to sit for the national certification exam.
“I am so excited,” Harrison says, “and I know our graduates are even more excited.”
Members of the ECC Surgical Technology Class of 2012 are Sonja Harvey, Chocowinity; Brooks Johnson, Tarboro; Jennifer Jones, Williamston; Morgan Rogerson, Tarboro; Kesshia Stanley, Tarboro; Julie Sutton, Rocky Mount; and Shermika Wooten, Tarboro.
This class also placed second in a statewide Scrub Bowl competition in July. Scrub Bowl is a college-level quizbowl sponsored by the NC Alliance of Surgical Technology Educators.
