School Counselors Attend ECC Summer Institute

Edgecombe County middle school counselors and high school counselors recently attended a weeklong Counselor Summer Institute at Edgecombe Community College.

Participants visited local industries, participated in program demonstrations, and learned more about program offerings and scholarship opportunities at Edgecombe. They also earned continuing education credit for their participation.

“This was the best group of counselors we’ve had at this annual institute,” says Michael Jordan, vice president of student services at ECC. “They’re excited about education, and they had some good ideas for us. We discussed new partnerships to give students more opportunities for learning.”

Counselors attended from C.B. Martin, Nash Central, Parker, Phillips, and South Edgecombe middle schools; and Edgecombe Early College, North Edgecombe, Northern Nash, Rocky Mount Senior, Southern Nash, SouthWest Edgecombe, and Tarboro high schools.
