Textbook & Supplies

The cost of textbooks and supplies varies according to the program of study. Textbooks and supplies for full-time degree or diploma students will cost approximately $300 – $600 per semester.

Insurance

  • Accident Insurance
    • Accident insurance, covering hours in school and transportation to and from school, is available for a modest fee.
  • Required Liability Insurance for Medical Program Students
    • Edgecombe Community College requires all students enrolled in any medical program which requires clinical lab experience to buy medical liability insurance for protection against malpractice suits which might arise during clinical experience. The Business Office will be responsible for collecting the medical liability insurance fee and properly enrolling the students as policy holders with the insurance company. Required liability insurance costs $8.50 per semester.

Establishment of Residency

To qualify for the resident tuition rate, North Carolina law (G.S. 116-143.1) requires that a legal resident must have maintained his/her domicile in North Carolina for at least the 12 months immediately prior to his/her classification as a resident for tuition purposes. One must also have established evidence of citizenship with intentions to reside in the state permanently. Examples of these actions are being employed, paying taxes, having a current North Carolina driver’s license, voting in the state, and belonging to churches, clubs, or other organizations. Anyone having a question regarding resident status should contact Student Services.
