ECC Class Tours Museum of the
Albemarle

Edgecombe Community College’s History 141 class - Genealogy and Local
History - a joint class that combines ECC students and Edgecombe Early College
High School students, visited the Museum of the Albemarle in Elizabeth City recently.
Students learned how museums are set up and how materials are collected. They
also spoke with Russell Steele, master craftsman and noted historic house restoration
specialist, who is reconstructing an 18th century house using old methods. Class
instructors are Tim Cochran, who teaches history in the Early College, and Monika
Fleming, chair of ECC’s English department. Shown from left are students
