Constitutional law will be in the spotlight at Edgecombe Community College on Wednesday, September 20. A lecture on constitutional law, held in observance of Constitution Day, will begin at 7 p.m. in Room 152 of the Arts, Civic and Technology Center on the Tarboro campus. The public is invited. Keynote speaker is Peter Glasgow, assistant district attorney for the state’s 7th district, which includes Edgecombe, Nash, and Wilson counties. He has served in this capacity since 2002. Glasgow holds a law degree from George Mason University School of Law and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Maryland. He will address constitutional law as it pertains to criminal law, focusing on the 5th Amendment privilege against self-incrimination and the 6th Amendment right to confrontation of witnesses and right to counsel. The official Constitution Day is September 17, but since this date was a Sunday the college is holding its event on Wednesday. If you have questions about Constitution Day, please call 823-5166, ext. 241.
