Students Place Second in Pre-Engineering Design Competition

 

 

A team from Edgecombe Community College placed second in the recent Community College Pre-Engineering Design Competition at Lenoir Community College. Team members were Edgecombe Early College High School students (from left) Kyle Johnson, Austin Barnes, Alexander Delgado, and Kevin Johnson.

 

 
An Edgecombe Community College team won second place in the Community College Pre-Engineering Design Competition held at Lenoir Community College on November 17. Team members were students in the Intro to Engineering (EGR 150) class taught by Rebecca Stamilio, physics and industrial/technical trades instructor.

This year’s competition featured 149 students from ECC, Lenoir Community College, Wake Tech, Craven Community College, and Johnston Community College. ECC competed for the first time this year.

Winning team members were Edgecombe Early College High School students Kyle Johnson, Austin Barnes, Alexander Delgado, and Kevin Johnson, who won with their Rube Goldberg machine design project.

The teams chose from the following design projects: Rube Goldberg machine, Bubble Machine, or Hovercraft. ECC was represented in the competition by three Rube Goldberg teams, one Bubble Machine team, and one Hovercraft team.

The college offers an Associate in Science/Pre-Engineering degree.
