Travel to Ireland with ECC

Make plans now to travel to Ireland in October 2007 with Edgecombe Community College students, faculty, staff, and community members.

ECC’s Travel Abroad Program is heading to Ireland October 6-13. Participants will visit Dublin, Ennis, Ring of Kerry, Killarney, and Waterford.

Ireland was selected because it is “America friendly,” says Tony Rook, trip organizer and chair of human services technology at ECC. “This is an ideal destination for those who are traveling out of the country for the first time. Our flight is short and direct, and we’re going to an English-speaking country.”

In Dublin, travelers will enjoy a visit to Oscar Wilde’s Trinity College. A scenic ride through horse-racing country will lead the group to the National Stud and then to Limerick.

Next, the group will travel to the Cliffs of Moher and the Clare Coast and enjoy Irish hospitality at Rathbaun Farm. After taking a ferry across the Shannon, travelers will drive around the Ring of Kerry. The famous Waterford Crystal Factory, Ireland’s oldest handweaving mill at Avoca, Glendalough, and the scenic Wicklow Mountains conclude the trip.

The cost of the trip is $2,075 per person. This price includes airfare, airport transfers, six full Irish breakfasts, three three-course dinners, and guided tours.

In order to lock in this rate, participants must register by April 30 with a $300 deposit. The deposit is refundable until May 4. The balance is due by July 13.
