Bill Leslie and Lorica to Perform in Tarboro

Edgecombe Community College is pleased to present an evening of Celtic and folk music featuring Bill Leslie and Lorica on St. Patrick’s Day, Friday, March 17.

The event is the fourth of five performances in Season Twelve of the Edgecombe Performance Series, which brings world class entertainment to Tarboro and Edgecombe County.

The performance takes place at 7:30 p.m. in Keihin Auditorium on the Tarboro campus.

Sometimes, leading a double life can be a really good thing, according to Bill Leslie. North Carolinians in the viewing area of NBC affiliate WRAL-TV 5 in Raleigh, NC, will recognize Leslie as the station’s multiple Emmy and Peabody Award-winning broadcast morning news anchor.

But Bill splits his brain, his breath, his time, and his career between two worlds, composing music and performing as leader of the Celtic/Folk/New Age-blended Bill Leslie and Lorica, a five-member ensemble whose albums have topped World Music charts in the U.S. and abroad.

The members of Lorica include violinist Sherry Lattin, flutist Linda Metz, pianist Marty Long, and percussionist Beverly Botsford.

A huge honor came for the album “Scotland – Grace of the Wild” in 2013, which was voted by global ZMR radio hosts as world radio Album of the Year. Two years later, the Irish-flavored album “Across the Water” was number one on the world music radio charts for eight consecutive weeks and was a finalist for ZMR Album of the Year.

Both the Scotland and Ireland albums have received extensive recognition including play on NPR’s popular “The Thistle and Shamrock” hosted by Fiona Ritchie.

The St. Patrick’s Day concert in Tarboro will be a ten-year return engagement, as Bill Leslie and Lorica appeared at Edgecombe Community College on March 17, 2007, during Season Two of the Edgecombe Performance Series.

Tickets for the 2017 concert are affordable at $10 each.

Reserved seating tickets for Edgecombe Performance Series events are available through the ECC Box Office on the Tarboro campus. Tickets for the St. Patrick’s Day concert are also available online at etix.com.
