Five Join ECC Foundation Board

Wick Baker also has joined the ECC Foundation board.

 

The Edgecombe Community College Foundation recently appointed five new members to its board of directors.

New members are Wick Baker, Curtis Edmondson, Norfleet Sugg, Ricky Thompson, and Gloria Wiggins-Hicks.

“We have a very dedicated and active board of directors, and these new members will be terrific additions to this group,” says Karen Andrus, executive director of the ECC Foundation. “They are all dynamic leaders, and we’re excited about the experience and knowledge they will bring to our board.”

Wick Baker is president of Heritage Hospital in Tarboro. He is a member of the Tarboro Rotary Club, the Tarboro Edgecombe Chamber of Commerce, and the Furman Mathewson Trust board.

Baker’s professional affiliations include membership in the American College of Healthcare Executives and the N.C. Hospital Association. He serves on the boards of HealthEast and Area L AHEC.

Curtis Edmondson is co-owner and general manager of the Thomas-Edmondson Agency in Tarboro. He serves on the local board of The Heritage Bank and the board of Edgecombe Farmers Mutual Insurance Company.

A longtime member of the Tarboro Jaycees, he is a past Jaycees vice president and a past recipient of the Jaycees’ Distinguished Service Award and the Spark Plug Award. Edmondson also is a past chairman of the Edgecombe Heart Fund.

Norfleet Sugg served as CEO of the N.C. Peanut Growers Association for many years before his retirement in 1993. His civic affiliations include 60 years in the American Legion Post #316 and 57 years in the Pinetops Lions Club. He is a member of Pinetops United Methodist Church.

Sugg’s many awards and honors include Lion of the Year, Watauga Medal from N.C. State University, and Progressive Farmer‘s Man of the Year (NC). He has held a number of offices with the N.C. State Alumni Association, including chairman and president.

In addition, Sugg served in the U.S. Navy in World War II.

Ricky Thompson is an investment advisor at Edward Jones in Tarboro. He is past president of the Conetoe Ruritan Club and a member of St. James United Methodist Church. Thompson also is a high school football referee.

Gloria Wiggins-Hicks is community relations manager at Consolidated Diesel Company in Rocky Mount. She has been a member of the ECC Board of Trustees since 2001. Her civic affiliations include the Chi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.

Wiggins-Hicks is a member of St. James Missionary Baptist Church.

The ECC Foundation Board of Directors has 32 members who serve in an advisory capacity to the ECC Foundation.
