Five faculty and staff members from Edgecombe Community College recently attended the second annual World View Community College Symposium on “The Global Economy.” The ECC participants were among 115 community college educators who traveled to UNC-Chapel Hill for the program held November 15-16. The ECC group included Carlene Bateman, English instructor; Dr. Johnica Ellis-Kiser, business instructor; Deana Guido, librarian; Johanna Owens, English instructor; and Lesley Wirt, career counselor/student recruiter. They gained a greater understanding of global education and its relevance to the classroom. In addition to the symposium’s presentations by global education experts and practitioners, participants took part in small group sessions on economic-based global education resources for a variety of subject areas and disciplines. World View, which is in its ninth year as a UNC-Chapel Hill program,
helps provide educators with a better understanding of global perspectives
on education through symposiums, seminars, global education leadership
programs, workshops, and international study visits.
