Edgecombe Community College nursing instructor Laura Clark has been named an item writer by the National Council for the State Board of Nursing. Only 16 RNs were selected nationwide for this committee. Writers will be trained to develop items for the NCLEX-RN licensure exam for RNs. These questions will be field-tested nationally, and selected questions will be on the licensure exam for RNs in the future. Clark will attend her first meeting with this group in Chicago in May. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing as well as a teaching certificate in nursing from East Carolina University. She joined the ECC faculty in 2004. In addition to serving as a nursing instructor, she is the program coordinator for ECC’s nursing assistant program. Clark previously worked as a nurse at Heritage Hospital, Nash Health Care Systems, Edgecombe County Health Department, and Wilson Medical Center. She also taught nursing at Wilson Technical Community College.
