Health Occupations

In recent years, the demand for health services has been increasing and the shortage of health personnel continues to be critical. With an accelerated growth of population in North Carolina and rapid advancements in medical technology, skilled health care personnel are needed to meet the challenges of the future.

Health Occupations Programs

Students may register on the Rocky Mount or Tarboro campuses in the Division of Continuing Education. Please bring required items listed under each course to be eligible to complete the application and registration process.

Classes should be paid for at the time of registration. Students may qualify for scholarship funds when available.

Courses requiring the Career Readiness Certificate (CRC)/WorkKeys assessment may be waived if students have a previous degree or are currently enrolled in curriculum classes. Students may contact Sylvia Grant at for information regarding the CRC/WorkKeys.

The Division of Continuing Education at Edgecombe Community College supports clinical agencies that require drug screening and criminal background checks. The cost of this testing is the student’s responsibility.

Background checks and drug screens must be performed through the vendor contracted by Edgecombe Community College. Background checks must be completed by the 3rd day of class. Information about drug screening will be provided during course orientation.
