Bookstore Information

Bookstores are located on both the Rocky Mount and the Tarboro campuses. Textbooks and school supplies are available at both ECC bookstores.

Dollars spent in ECC's Bookstores are used to provide scholarships & emergency student loans.

Bookstore pricing, policy, & procedures are operated under strict state guidelines and are audited each year.

If you are a distance learning student, you may choose your books from either booklist provided (Tarboro or Rocky Mount) and you can order books online using the link below.

  • Online ordering opens December 10.
  • Winter semester Financial Aid opens December 10 and closes December 15.

How do I get information about my textbooks?

How can I find out the ISBN number of a particular text?
ISBN numbers and publisher information can be obtained from the ECC Booklists.  See the links above.
Can I buy used books?
Yes, a limited number of used textbooks are available for purchase each semester.
Can I return a used book?
The only used books we accept are if you drop a course and the book was purchased used from ECC. See the official Book Return Policy below. If you cannot meet the requirements of the return policy, and if there is a demand for your text, you may attempt to sell it back during official book buyback days at the end of the semester.
Do you have a book buyback program?
We have a book buyback at the end of each semester through an independent wholesale book company that comes to the Tarboro and Rocky Mount campuses.
Can the ECC bookstore purchase a book for me?
Only required textbooks for ECC courses are available in the bookstores.
What ways can I purchase a text book?
We accept cash, credit cards, and personal checks with proper ID. Financial aid is available through Student Services, and third party agencies, for those who qualify.

       (Until 6:00 PM during drop/add period)

       Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM 

Summer Semester

       Monday - Thursday, 7:15 PM - 6:00 PM

Book Return Policy

  • Please have your course drop slip.
  • Please request the refund before the end of the drop-add period.
  • Please have your original cash register receipt.
  • Please have your identification.
  • The book must be in new condition for a full refund.
  • If the shrink wrap is broken, the book is non-returnable.

Please note that all books will be returned to the book companies after the 3rd week of class. Please pick up your books before this time.

Higher Education Opportunity Act Compliance

In compliance with the Higher Education Opportunity Act 2008 (HEOA), the Bookstore must disclose on the school’s website each course’s required textbook(s), supplemental textbook(s) and materials. The information must include the International Standard Book Number (ISBN) and the retail price. If the ISBN is not available, the title, author, publisher, and copyright date must be provided. If the school determines it impractical for the information to be disclosed the designation “To Be Determined” will be used.
