Put On A Show!
Mickey and Jan Rooney
www.mickeyrooney.com
Mickey Rooney has enjoyed a truly legendary career. Joined on stage by his
wife of 29 years, the singer/actress Jan Rooney, they will perform their highly
acclaimed musical Let’s Put On a Show! In 2004, Mickey
and Jan received a Star on the prestigious “Hollywood Walk of Fame.” Let’s
Put On a Show! is an autobiographical musical, highlighted with film clips,
humor and anecdotal memories that enjoyed a successful run Off-Broadway in
New York. Drawing on a rich 80-plus year career, the musical numbers are broad
ranged and are taken from Mickey’s films, some original tunes and Jan's
vast repertoire, including her tribute to Patsy Cline. Additionally, the show
features a moving tribute to Mickey’s famous MGM co-star, Judy Garland.
The show enjoyed a sold-out 15 city tour of the UK in June of 2006. In addition
to the UK and Off-Broadway, the show has been playing successfully across the
country including a stint in Branson, Mo., and at casinos and performing arts
centers.

Regina
Carter Quintet
www.reginacarter.com
Born in Detroit, Regina Carter grew up listening to Motown, but she studied
classical violin. Finding the classical repertoire limiting, Carter found artistic
freedom in jazz by exploring the melodic and percussive possibilities of the
violin. She was diligent in her pursuit of musical excellence, and her creative
genius in composition and improvisation soon became a formidable combination
on the jazz scene. Having appeared with giants like Wynton Marsalis and Aretha
Franklin, Carter continues to gain the respect of critics and fans alike for
her musical diversity.
This performance is sponsored by the Furman Mathewson
Trust of Edgecombe County Memorial Library. Admission free, ticket
required, reserved seating only.

Taylor
Swift
www.taylorswift.com
"Got the radio on, my old blue jeans, and I'm wearing my heart on my
sleeve," Taylor Swift sings on "A Place in This World," a self-penned
coming-of-age anthem from her debut album on Big Machine Records. It's an apt
description of the enthusiastic, down-to-earth young woman, whose original
compositions about teenage life brim with poignant honesty and an infectious
spirit. Her debut single. A tender ballad, "Tim McGraw" describes
the way music can evoke the sweetest of memories: "When you think Tim
McGraw / I hope you think my favorite song / The one we danced to all night
long." Elsewhere on the album, Taylor tackles more serious issues. "Tied
Together With a Smile," captures the fragile self-esteem of teenagers,
inspired by girls that Taylor has known through the years. Taylor's self-titled
debut album was recently certified Platinum by the RIAA. Don't miss this opportunity
to see Country Music's brightest new light in an intimate setting

AN
EVENING WITH
Percy Sledge
AND SUNSET DRIVE
www.psledge.com
If
you mention the name Percy Sledge to just about any music fan
in the world, you'll invariably elicit a woebegone version of "When
A Man Loves A Woman." That song is Percy's signature and
a tune that defined the summer of 1966 and every one thereafter.
Percy Sledge is, however, far from a one-hit wonder. He's had
a number of significant chart hits including "Take Time
To Know Her," "Warm And Tender Love," "Out
Of Left Field, "It Tears Me Up," "I'll Be Your
Everything" and others; his is a successful career that
is now in its fifth decade. During the '70s, his commercial success
faded away, but Sledge continued to tour and record. In 1994,
he released Blue Night, his first collection of new
material in over two decades, to uniformly positive reviews.
His latest album, Shining Through The Rain, was released
in 2005. On March 14, 2005, Percy Sledge was inducted into the
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at the twentieth annual induction
dinner. The hall-of-famer still performs over 100 dates per year.
